Choosing a shape
Why the fang mallet.
The fang is the most naturally forgiving of the three head shapes. The two arms carry the weight out to the rear corners, which is what settles it when you miss the centre — the miss still rolls and still holds its line. The arms also frame the ball at address, which is the real help if your miss comes from aiming rather than from your stroke. Best with a straight-back, straight-through or slight-arc stroke.
